Meital leads two research projects at ChainGE Lab:
Economic and Environmental Impact of the Second-Hand Clothing Trade in Africa – This study explores Africa’s evolving second-hand economy, focusing on Ghana, the world’s largest importer of used clothing. It assesses the trade’s effects on Ghana’s textile industry, employment, circular economy ecosystems, and environmental sustainability.
Balancing Environmental and Social Sustainability in the Fashion Industry – This study critically examines whether environmental regulations in sustainable fashion advance social goals, such as fair labor practices and broader social sustainability. Through policy analysis and interviews with policymakers, industry leaders, and labor advocates, the research highlights tensions between environmental and social objectives in global supply chains.
